|2 more races...

On May 9th I did another 5k in Lucas...where I grew up. The school hosted it as a fundraiser. It was a clear day, threat of rain but never raining. I had only trained during the week twice so I wasn't super confident but I pushed myself harder than I had in the past and the last half mile was killer. However, I finished in 30:05! It's my new personal best. Then I went straight to another job for Navyformoms.com and stood around in Victory Plaza and walked around for 7 hours handing out swag to people attending the Mav's game. My legs were tired at the end of the day.|
Then just a couple days later on May 14th, we had another race. This day I was coming straight from another job for Jack in the Box. Luckily I hadn't been standing all day but riding the scooter so my legs were ok...well, except for some little problem with my knee. You see, the night before I woke up in the middle of the night with my leg hanging awkwardly off the bed. When I woke on Thursday I felt fine but when I got off the scooter at the end of the shift, my knee was slightly swollen with a knot on the backside. I stretched and it ended up feeling fine by the time the race began.
There were 3500 people running this one...on a course that is much more comfortable with about half that many. For me, a very average runner, that put me with the majority of runners the entire race. I didn't get a chance to break away so sometimes I struggled to get out from behind clumps of people. I would like to believe that is why I ran slower but it was probably also the new knee problem. 32:34 this time. Still happy with it, but I do plan on doing better next time.
The next race isn't until August 8th and hopefully the knee is better by then.
Now, my knee is still swollen...and it feels kinda like it's on sideways. I'm going to give it a few more days rest without exercising before I give the doctor a call.
